Work: Full-time, five days per week ( 9am- 5 pm)
Term: Temporary / Summer Assignment (approximately three months)
Start Date: Around 20th June 2026
End Date: Around 20th September 2026
Salary: 4,000-6,000 EUR pcm, dependent on profile and experience

Role Overview

An International and repeat client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Summer Governess & Homeschool Teacher to design and lead a private, small-group homeschooling programme for young children during a three-month summer stay in Ibiza.

The core group will consist of the family’s two children, aged five and almost three by the summer, together with friends’ children of a similar age, approximately six months younger. There may also be an additional child of a similar age joining the group.

This is a senior, education-led position suited to a professional whose primary background is as a Waldorf or Montessori teacher. The family is specifically looking for a proper governess—someone confident in establishing structure, rhythm, and educational continuity, while also bringing warmth, emotional intelligence, and adaptability to a private household setting.

The role represents a clear evolution from previous summer arrangements and differs significantly from a traditional nanny position. The emphasis is on educational leadership, curriculum design, and group guidance, with governess-style support provided when required.

Children & Group Composition

The homeschooling group will initially consist of five children:

  • The family’s two children (aged five and almost three by the summer)
  • Friends’ children of similar ages (approximately six months younger)

There is potential for the group to expand over the summer, including up to seven children. All children will be within a comparable early years age range.

Educational & Pedagogical Approach

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a structured homeschool programme, delivered five days per week and grounded in either Waldorf or Montessori principles.

The programme should be calm, age-appropriate, and thoughtfully planned, supporting:

  • Early literacy and numeracy through play-based, experiential learning
  • Social development within a small-group setting
  • Emotional regulation, independence, and confidence
  • Creativity, imagination, and practical life skills
  • A consistent daily rhythm with clear yet gentle boundaries

This is not an informal, activity-based setup. The family is seeking a professional with the experience and confidence to design a coherent educational framework comparable to that of a high-quality early-years classroom, adapted for a private setting.

Governess Responsibilities

In addition to core homeschool hours, the role will include governess-style support, particularly with the older child, as required. Responsibilities may include:

  • One-to-one educational or developmental support
  • Accompanying the child during certain parts of the day when needed
  • Supporting routines, transitions, and emotional well-being

The ability to move seamlessly between the roles of teacher, governess, and household professional is essential.

Working Schedule & Living Arrangements

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
  • Flexibility: A degree of flexibility is expected, depending on family needs
  • Accommodation: A separate private apartment will be provided. This space may be shared with another nanny and may also serve as the dedicated homeschooling environment, offering a clear distinction between home and learning spaces.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Qualified Waldorf or Montessori teacher (essential)
  • Proven experience leading a class or creating a homeschool or small-group learning environment for children aged approximately 2.5–6 years
  • Experience as a head teacher, lead educator, or equivalent strongly preferred
  • Strong swimmer
  • Driver
  • Calm authority, warmth, and excellent group management skills
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with parents
  • Highly organised, professional, and confident in establishing routines and structure
  • Fluent English (essential)
  • Two to three recent, contactable references

Why This Role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Montessori or Waldorf early-years educator to take on a highly autonomous, professionally rewarding summer role, leading a bespoke homeschooling programme in Ibiza for a small group of young children in a thoughtful, discreet, and well-supported private family environment.
