Role Overview

A private international family based in Florence is seeking an experienced rota nanny to support the care of their three young children.

This is a rota role, working alongside the parents and other professionals in the household. The mother is a stay-at-home parent and closely involved in the children’s care. The father works from home. This is a shared-care role, requiring a nanny who is comfortable working collaboratively with parents and maintaining consistency in routines and approach.

The family travels regularly to France and occasionally to London. The rota nanny should be confident in supporting the children during travel and in maintaining routines across locations.

The children are:

• One boy aged 2 years, attending a full-time nursery
• One boy aged 1 year
• A newborn baby due in April
• A maternity nurse will be assigned to the newborn during the first months. During working weeks, the primary daytime focus will be on the one-year-old, with shared responsibility for the newborn once the maternity nurse transitions out.

The family would like a nanny who speaks fluent English, French, Italian, or Spanish.

They would appreciate someone who can naturally introduce additional languages into the children’s daily routine through conversation, songs, and stories.

Main Responsibilities

During your working weeks, you will be responsible for the children’s day-to-day care, ensuring routines are consistent, calm, and age- and stage-appropriate for each child. You will work alongside the parents, particularly the mother, within a shared-care arrangement.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing daily routines (mornings, daytime care, bath and bedtime)
• Supporting age-appropriate developmental milestones for babies and toddlers
• Planning simple, structured activities at home and outdoors
• Working alongside the mother in a shared-care role
• Supporting nursery-related routines for the eldest child when required
• Assisting with the transition from maternity nurse care to nanny care for the newborn
• Reading, singing, and supporting early communication and curiosity
• Preparing simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children
• Preparing and organising the children’s clothes, bags, and belongings
• Keeping children’s bedrooms and play areas tidy, organised, and welcoming
• Packing and organising for travel with the children
• You will also liaise with the parents and other professionals involved in the children’s care, and keep clear notes on routines, development, and any relevant observations.

The family is seeking a career rota nanny with extensive experience caring for multiple young children and confidence in working in a shared-care environment with parents present.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have proven experience working as a rota nanny in private households
• Have strong experience caring for multiples, including babies and toddlers
• Be confident caring for children aged newborn to three years
• Be comfortable working alongside parents in a shared-care role
• Have a calm, reliable, and consistent approach
• Be well organised and able to manage children’s routines independently
• Be discreet and professional within a private family home
• Be comfortable travelling with the family when required
• Hold a recognised childcare qualification
