Role overview

International Nanny is recruiting a live-out afternoon nanny for a family based in Barcelona. The nanny will work Monday to Thursday, from 16:00 to 20:30, taking care of the family’s young son after school and creating a calm, pleasant routine with simple, well-thought-out activities that support his development. There will be occasional later evenings, approximately three per month; all additional hours are remunerated.
This role suits someone warm, steady and responsible, who genuinely enjoys planning and engaging with children rather than simply offering basic supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Arrive at the family home before the child gets back from school.
• Between 16:00 and approximately 17:15 / 17:30, prepare the child’s dinner, so it is ready when he arrives (he returns by school bus at around 17:30).
• Welcome the child home and care for him through the afternoon.
  • Plan and lead simple, engaging activities, such as:
  • Reading and story time.
  • Basic arts and crafts and creative activities.
  • Calm, age-appropriate games.
• Give him his dinner and ensure a relaxed, pleasant mealtime.
• Bath him one afternoon per week, as agreed with the parents.
• Leave play areas and any spaces used with the child tidy at the end of the day.
• Maintain clear, respectful communication with the parents about how the afternoon has gone and anything they should be aware of.

Candidate profile

Essential

• Language:
  • Spanish (English, French or Catalan are a plus).
• Previous experience working with children in a family or similar setting.
• A caring, responsible, patient and reliable approach.
• Genuine interest in preparing and leading activities with the child (stories, games, crafts), not simply watching over him.
• Punctual, organised and willing to commit to a long-term role.
• Based in Barcelona or nearby, with an easy commute to the family home at the specified times.
• Flexibility to stay later on the occasional evening when required (with appropriate compensation).
