Permanent, Live-in, English-speaking Nanny (0–3 Years Specialist) — The Bahamas

Location: The Bahamas
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent, live-out (separate apartment provided)
Schedule: 5 days per week
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

Role Summary

This appointment supports a long-standing family we hold in high regard. We are seeking a professional, live-out (separate apartment provided) nanny with strong expertise in the 0–3 age range to provide consistent, knowledgeable care for a 2.5-year-old.

A newborn is due shortly. The baby will have a designated maternity nurse, so the primary focus of this role will remain with the toddler. However, the successful candidate should be confident with newborns and comfortable collaborating in a multi-caregiver environment to ensure smooth transitions and continuity between siblings over time.

The household is fully staffed, and the parents are highly involved and hands-on. This is a shared-care position that requires flexibility, emotional intelligence, and strong teamwork. The nanny will work collaboratively with the parents and other staff members, ensuring alignment on routines, expectations, and developmental approach.

The family values calm, consistency, thoughtful structure, and a respectful, child-led rhythm rather than overstimulation.

Key Responsibilities

This is a hands-on, child-focused role that combines practical care with early developmental support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining structured daily routines suitable for a 2.5-year-old
  • Supporting healthy sleep habits and transitions
  • Preparing simple, nutritious meals and promoting independent eating
  • Supporting language development and early learning
  • Planning age-appropriate activities (fine motor, gross motor, imaginative play, early concepts)
  • Encouraging emotional regulation, independence, and respectful boundaries
  • Managing children’s laundry, wardrobe organisation, and nursery upkeep
  • Ensuring toys, materials, and play spaces remain organised and developmentally appropriate
  • Communicating clearly with parents about milestones and daily observations
  • Working seamlessly alongside the maternity nurse and other staff to maintain consistency

While the newborn will have dedicated maternity nurse support, the nanny should be comfortable stepping in when needed and transitioning into a sibling-aware role as the family evolves.

Candidate Profile — Essential

We are seeking a nanny with solid private-household experience caring for toddlers aged 2–3, supported by excellent, verifiable references.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience guiding children through the 2–3-year developmental phase
  • Confidence in managing boundaries in a calm, respectful manner
  • Strong understanding of toddlers’ emotional and behavioural development
  • Current Paediatric First Aid and CPR (or willingness to refresh upon hire)
  • Experience working within fully staffed households
  • Comfort in shared-care arrangements with highly involved parents
  • Discretion, professionalism, and excellent organisational skills
  • Clear, warm communication

Early years or teaching training (Montessori, Early Childhood Education, Waldorf, or similar) would be highly valued. However, while this would be considered a strong advantage, substantial hands-on toddler expertise and strong private-household experience remain the priority.

Personal Qualities

  • Calm, steady, and emotionally intelligent
  • Naturally structured without rigidity
  • Confident working in collaboration rather than sole charge
  • Observant and attuned to family dynamics
  • Professional, discreet, and long-term minded

Who This Role Suits

This position is ideal for a confident baby and toddler specialist who thrives in a collaborative, fully staffed environment and values shared care with engaged parents.

It will suit a professional who enjoys supporting early independence, language development, and emotional growth, while working harmoniously within a structured household. The right candidate will bring steadiness, discretion, and seamless continuity as the family welcomes their newborn.
