The Role

An esteemed international family is seeking an accomplished and experienced Rota Nanny to join their household on a long-term basis, offering a distinguished opportunity for the right candidate.

The family is currently in Burgundy and will be based in Florence from October. The mother is a stay-at-home parent and is closely involved in the children’s day-to-day lives, while the father works from home. This is therefore a shared-care position, and the nanny must be comfortable working alongside involved parents while also taking confident responsibility during their rotation.

The household is fully staffed, so the family is looking for someone who understands how to work respectfully and professionally as part of an established team.

The children are:

  • A two-year-old boy who attends nursery full-time

  • A one-year-old boy

  • A baby aged approximately two and a half months

A maternity nurse is currently caring for the baby and will remain with the family until August. The nanny will initially focus more closely on the two older children, while gradually becoming familiar with the baby’s routine ahead of a careful handover.

The family is seeking someone loving, attentive and genuinely warm with young children, but also confident in setting clear boundaries. They would particularly value a nanny who can encourage good manners, respectful behaviour and age-appropriate independence in a calm and consistent way.

Responsibilities

The nanny’s responsibilities will include:

  • Providing attentive and age-appropriate care for all three children

  • Managing daily routines, including mornings, meals, bath time and bedtime

  • Supporting the children’s development through play, reading, conversation and time outdoors

  • Encouraging good manners, kindness and respectful behaviour

  • Setting clear and consistent boundaries in a calm and loving manner

  • Supporting nursery routines for the eldest child when required

  • Working closely with the mother within a shared-care arrangement

  • Becoming familiar with the baby’s routine and supporting the transition from maternity nurse care

  • Preparing simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children

  • Organising the children’s clothes, bedrooms, play areas and belongings

  • Packing and preparing for travel

  • Maintaining routines across the family’s different residences

  • Communicating clearly with the parents, the other rota nanny and the wider household team

  • Keeping accurate handover notes regarding routines, development and any relevant observations

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Have strong experience caring for babies, toddlers and multiple young children

  • Have previous rota experience

  • Have experience working within fully staffed or formal households

  • Be confident in a shared-care role with hands-on parents

  • Be warm and affectionate, while also able to set firm and respectful boundaries

  • Understand the importance of manners, consistency and emotional security

  • Be organised, dependable and capable of managing routines independently

  • Communicate clearly and provide thorough rota handovers

  • Be discreet and professional within a private household

  • Be comfortable travelling internationally

  • Hold a recognised childcare or early years qualification

  • Hold an up-to-date paediatric first-aid certificate

  • Speak fluent English, French or Spanish

Ideal Candidate

This position is ideally suited to an accomplished career nanny whose practice combines warmth with quiet authority, serving the needs of the most discerning families.

The family is not looking for someone overly strict, but for a nanny who is confident, respectful and consistent. The right person will understand how to guide young children with affection while maintaining clear expectations around behaviour and manners.

They should be comfortable working alongside parents and other household staff, able to take initiative when needed and committed to maintaining continuity between rotations.
