Temporary, Full-time, Live-in or Live-out Governess – London with Extensive Travel

Location: London, UK, with frequent international travel
Contract: Temporary (3 months), with strong potential to become permanent

Salary: £75,000+ gross per year (pro rata), depending on experience

Schedule

• Full-time presence during weekends
• Three weekday afternoons (including Monday, plus two additional days)
• Increased hours during school holidays and travel periods

A high level of flexibility is required due to frequent travel, often arranged at short notice.

Family Overview

A well-established and dynamic family based in London is seeking an experienced Governess to support their two daughters, aged 7 and 9. The girls attend school full-time and follow the British curriculum.

The household is fully staffed, and the Governess will work within a structured and collaborative environment.

The Role

This is a predominantly educational role, focused on supporting academic development while cultivating intellectual curiosity and a genuine enjoyment of learning.

• Supporting homework and consolidating school learning
• Preparing for assessments, including 11+
• Designing and delivering structured, engaging educational activities
• Planning and organising enriching experiences, including museums, exhibitions, and theatre
• Preparing tailored learning materials to suit each child
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and critical thinking
• Adapting to a more immersive, full-time role during travel and school holidays

Candidate Requirements

• Strong knowledge of the British curriculum, including proven experience with 11+ preparation
• Educational background, ideally a qualified teacher
• Previous experience in a similar Governess role within a private household
• Warm, engaging, and able to build a natural and respectful rapport
• Energetic, positive, and consistent in approach
• Creative and resourceful, able to extend learning beyond the classroom
• Highly organised, with strong planning and preparation skills
• Flexible and solution-oriented, particularly in relation to travel and changing schedules
• Confident working within a fully staffed household

• Availability to travel regularly, including at short notice
