Role Overview

An international family based in Reykjavik is seeking an experienced, professional live-in nanny to support the care and development of their first child. The baby is currently three months old and will be approximately six months old at the start of the role.

This is a long-term position suited to a calm, capable nanny who brings structure, reassurance, and organisation to a household. The family values a respectful, discreet presence, clear routines, and a nanny who naturally anticipates needs, ensuring daily life runs smoothly.

The nanny will work closely with the parents to establish and maintain consistent routines appropriate to the baby’s age and development, supporting both the child’s wellbeing and the smooth running of the household.

The child will be raised bilingually at home, with English and Icelandic spoken day to day. In addition, the family would ideally like a nanny who can gently introduce Indonesian or Tagalog through natural, informal exposure, such as songs, rhymes, and everyday interactions. This is not a formal teaching role.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing attentive, developmentally appropriate care for a baby from six months onwards
• Supporting feeding routines and age-appropriate transitions
• Establishing and maintaining sleep routines, including naps and settling
• Monitoring developmental milestones and adapting care accordingly
• Supporting early communication and language development through age-appropriate interaction and play
• Keeping all baby-related areas tidy, organised, and well prepared
• Managing baby supplies and inventory, ensuring essentials are always stocked
• Preparing for outings and travel with foresight and organisation
• Maintaining clear, professional communication with parents, including daily updates and observations

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience caring for babies from early infancy through the first year
• Calm, organised, and proactive approach, with excellent attention to detail
• Fluent English
• EU passport holder (essential for legal employment in Iceland)
• Indonesian or Tagalog language skills are highly desirable (not essential)

Accommodation is provided in a separate apartment within the same property, offering privacy and independence while remaining close to the family home.
