Family Overview

A professional German family based in Manila is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and self-motivated live-in nanny to care for their two sons. The parents work full-time and occasionally travel for business, so they require a trustworthy, humorous, and inspiring professional who can provide stability, reliability, and emotional support in their absence.

The older son, aged 14, has a rare genetic condition and uses specialised equipment for both communication and mobility. He attends school full-time and benefits from a structured, nurturing approach. The ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting children with special needs and will work confidently alongside parents and therapists to ensure continuity of care.

The younger son, aged 8, also attends school full-time. The family is considerate of the emotional dynamics involved in having a sibling with special needs and looks for someone who can provide understanding, care, and emotional stability to both boys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive before- and after-school care, ensuring the children’s daily routines are calm, organised, and engaging.
  • Assist with morning and evening routines, including school preparation and mealtimes.
  • Support the older child in his daily activities, using his established communication and mobility equipment with confidence.
  • Offer reassurance, emotional support, and companionship to the younger child, ensuring his needs are equally prioritised.
  • Implement structure, boundaries, and consistent routines to create a stable, secure environment.
  • Plan enriching, age-appropriate activities for weekends and holidays.
  • Liaise with parents, school staff, and therapists to ensure continuity and clear communication.
  • Travel with the family when required, or stay in Manila with one or both children during parents’ absences.
  • Maintain a safe, warm, and positive home environment at all times.

Candidate Profile

  • Formal childcare qualification or background in occupational therapy, special education, or child development (desirable).
  • Proven experience supporting children with special needs, including communication and mobility assistance.
  • Fluent in English; German is a strong advantage.
  • Confident in setting boundaries and following structured, routine-based care.
  • Emotionally intelligent, patient, and empathetic towards both children’s individual needs.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently while maintaining open communication with parents.
  • Flexible to travel and adaptable with working hours when needed.

Who This Role Would Suit

This position would suit a qualified nanny or childcare professional with a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs. It is ideal for individuals who value structure, balance, and emotional understanding, and who thrive in an international family environment. The role requires a calm yet confident personality, able to offer both gentle guidance and firm boundaries. A background in occupational therapy or inclusive education would be particularly valuable.
