Position Summary

A private family is seeking a highly experienced English-speaking maternity nurse to support the care of their two-month-old baby for a one-month period.

The placement will begin in Tirana, Albania, on 15 July 2026, before accompanying the family to the South of France. The successful candidate will provide attentive, round-the-clock care and help maintain a calm, consistent routine throughout the family’s travel.

The parents lead busy professional lives and are looking for a capable, reassuring and discreet maternity nurse who can take confident responsibility for the baby while communicating clearly and sensitively with them.

Role Context and Family Environment

The family has an international and fast-paced lifestyle. The maternity nurse should be comfortable travelling, adapting quickly to different environments and working cooperatively alongside other household staff.

The baby will be approximately two months old at the start of the placement. The family would particularly value someone who understands the changing needs of a young infant and can support healthy feeding, sleep and daily rhythms without imposing a rigid approach.

Excellent judgment and professional boundaries are essential. The successful candidate should understand when to take the lead, when to offer guidance and when to remain quietly supportive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing round-the-clock care for the baby throughout the placement

  • Supporting feeding, winding, settling and sleep routines

  • Observing and responding sensitively to the baby’s cues

  • Maintaining a calm, consistent and age-appropriate daily rhythm

  • Monitoring the baby’s general wellbeing and communicating clearly with the parents

  • Offering knowledgeable and reassuring guidance when requested

  • Managing all nursery-related duties, including bottles, sterilising, laundry and organisation

  • Preparing and packing the baby’s belongings for travel

  • Ensuring that all essential baby equipment and supplies are available during the journey

  • Accompanying the family from Albania to the South of France

  • Settling quickly into new accommodation and maintaining continuity in the baby’s care

  • Working respectfully and collaboratively alongside the wider household team

  • Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, confidentiality and professional conduct

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have extensive professional maternity nurse and newborn experience within private households

  • Have strong experience caring for babies of a similar age

  • Speak fluent English

  • Be calm, warm, capable and emotionally intuitive

  • Have previous experience travelling internationally with private families

  • Be comfortable working a 24/7 maternity nurse schedule

  • Be highly organised and confident managing all nursery-related arrangements while travelling

  • Understand the standards and professional boundaries expected within private households

  • Be adaptable and able to remain composed when plans or environments change

  • Work well alongside parents and other household staff

  • Be able to travel to Albania and France for the full duration of the placement, with any necessary permissions already in place

  • Hold a valid passport

  • Be a confident swimmer

  • Hold an up-to-date paediatric first aid certificate

  • Provide excellent, recent and fully checkable references

Additional Information

The maternity nurse must be available for the complete placement, from 15 July until 15 August 2026.

The position will begin in Tirana before continuing in the South of France. The candidate should therefore be comfortable with international travel and able to provide consistent care across both locations.

All travel and suitable accommodation during the placement will be arranged by the family.

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role would suit a polished and highly experienced maternity nurse who combines sound newborn knowledge with warmth, discretion and excellent practical judgement.

The successful candidate will be confident taking responsibility for a young baby, while remaining considerate of the parents’ preferences and the established household dynamic. A calm presence, natural adaptability and genuine enjoyment of caring for young infants will be central to succeeding in this placement.
