Contract Type: Full-time, temporary
Salary: €1,200–€1,800 per week gross
Schedule: Flexible; full-time with occasional evenings and weekends as required
Dates: 10 December 2025 – 28 February 2026 (to be confirmed; some flexibility regarding dates and working hours; possibility of extension)
Long-term Prospect: Potential to extend beyond the Cape Town assignment with a subsequent placement in Monaco, subject to mutual agreement
Role Summary
We are pleased to support a lovely, busy family we know well. We are seeking a confident, warm, and highly organised live-in nanny to assist the parents and work alongside their trusted long-term nanny while in Cape Town. The care is for one child (a girl, 2½ years old), who is empathetic, curious, articulate, and active. You will bring a calm presence, a thoughtful routine, and engaging, age-appropriate activities; provide reliable sole charge during short periods; and work seamlessly with the parents and resident nanny to ensure the home runs smoothly and harmoniously.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer attentive and compassionate care, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities (arts and crafts, early science, reading, outdoor play) to support physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Maintain consistent daily routines: meals, naps, playtime, and straightforward educational moments.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and organisation in children’s areas and their belongings.
- Maintain a balanced yet assertive approach to boundaries, grounded in kindness and respect.
- Assist mother and child with appointments, activities, and outings as needed.
- Offer short-term sole charge with confidence and sound judgement.
- Travel with the family when necessary, ensuring smooth care away from home.
- Communicate discreetly; safeguard the family’s privacy at all times.
- Collaborate with parents and the resident nanny to ensure consistent approaches.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Extensive experience as a nanny in private families; excellent references.
- Recognised childcare training or education (e.g., early years/Montessori or equivalent).
- Calm, gentle temperament; patient, observant, and responsive to a young child’s needs.
- Thoughtful, gentle and compassionate approach to discipline rooted in kindness and respect.
- Exceptionally organised; takes pride in keeping children’s environments tidy.
- Reliable and flexible work ethic; comfortable adjusting to family schedules and needs.
- Willing and able to travel with the family; valid passport and entry eligibility for South Africa.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Desirable
- Experience in multilingual or culturally diverse homes.
- Knowledge of developmental milestones and creative, play-based learning.
- Experience in supporting healthy sleep routines.
- Capable of preparing simple, healthy meals and snacks for children.
- Confident swimmer.
